A man who died when the car he was travelling in hit a fallen tree during Storm Isha has been named.

James "Jimmy" Johnstone was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Beancross Road, Grangemouth at about 23:45 on Sunday.

The road was closed while investigations were carried out and reopened around 06:00 on Monday.

Mr Johnstone's family said in a statement that their "hearts were broken."

They said he was a "much-loved and well respected family man" who left a lasting impression on all who "had the privilege to have met him."

He was one of two people killed during the storm which left thousands of people without power across the UK after bringing heavy rain and winds up to 99mph.
