Dungiven: Masked gang issue threats after entering two premises

Two premises in Dungiven were targeted by a gang of armed and masked men on Friday.

Police are investigating after a masked gang, including one reportedly carrying a gun, threatened people in two premises in Dungiven, County Londonderry.

The first incident happened at 19:20 GMT on Friday when the gang entered a sports club on the Garvagh Road.

It was then reported that, at about 21:00, the men entered a licensed premises on the town's Main Street.

They again made a number of threats before making off.

There were no injuries reported.

Sinn Féin's Caoimhe Archibald has said the community is "shocked and angry" at the incidents.

"There is absolutely no place for these type of threats of violence or intimidation," the East Derry MLA added.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers have asked those with information in relation to the incidents to contact them.
