Blaze at new housing development being treated as arson

A fire at a new housing development in County Antrim is being treated as arson, police have said.

The blaze started at about 00:15 GMT on Thursday at Park Road in Mallusk.

Two new build houses under construction were set alight in the incident.

Emergency services attended the scene and extinguished the blaze.

Two fire appliances from Glengormley Fire Station, one appliance from Westland Fire Station and one appliance from Whitla Fire Station attended.

"Firefighters used three jets to extinguish the fire and the scene was left with the PSNI," a Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

"The incident was dealt with by 02:34 and the fire is believed to have been deliberate ignition."

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said that no injuries were reported and they are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
