Loftus woman who lost leg in tractor crash to help victims

A woman who lost a leg when a tractor ran her over is hoping to use her experience to help others.

Lucie Maguire, from Loftus, was 19 when her life was turned upside down.

She was on her way home from work when the family car broke down, causing her mum to pull over as the vehicle began to fill with smoke.

As she was getting out of the car, Lucie was hit by a tractor and its trailer, resulting in her being put into a five-week coma and having her leg amputated in 2021.

Charity Day One Trauma Support has helped Lucie through her journey and encouraged her to share her story to help other people.

Lucie is now focusing on becoming a peer support worker, as well as raising awareness and money for the group
