A wedding events company said a suspected arson attack has destroyed thousands of pounds worth of tipis.

Events Under Canvas had four tents burnt "beyond repair" in Capel St Mary, near Ipswich, on Sunday evening.

Managing director Jenna Ackerley said is was "really upsetting" but luckily, no-one was harmed.

Officers from Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service attended the site and were investigating the incident.

According to Jenna Ackerley, the fire burned out by itself before fire crews attended

The fire happened at Great Gilbert Farm just before 18:00 BST where four tipis were fixed together to create a larger covered space.

Ms Ackerley believed the fire was started under one of the tipis and it spread through the woven mat flooring.

"They're all damaged beyond repair. Smoke damage has got to everything," she said.

According to Ms Ackerley, the tents appear to have been dowsed in petrol or oil.

The tents had been erected in advance of a wedding show, which was due to take place this weekend at the site.

"We've got people coming from all across England," said Ms Ackerley.

The company, which also provides tents for parties, corporate events and festivals, has now invested in additional CCTV and security ahead of the show.

"Thankfully, we've got enough time to drop and rebuild the [other] tents," she said.
