Ex-Met officer pleads not guilty for upskirting

A former police officer pleaded not guilty after being charged with upskirting on and off duty.
Christopher Herd, 48, used to work for the Metropolitan Police before he was charged with one count of indecent exposure and three counts of upskirting on 13 April.
Mr Herd, of Capel St Mary, Suffolk, was seen in court wearing a suit and tie and spoke to confirm him name, date of birth and address before entering his plea.
The trial is due to take place at Chelmsford Crown Court on 12 June.
Mr Herd has been accused of committing the upskirting offences between March and July 2024, when he was on and off duty and travelling on public transport, said a spokesperson for Metropolitan Police.
He was arrested by Essex Police on 30 August 2024 on the suspicion of indecent exposure and this alleged offence is believed to have taken place off duty, added the Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
He was suspended from his job when he was arrested and resigned on 1 March.
Mr Herd was granted conditional bail, which stipulated he could not delete any pictures without consent from police, not to record anyone in a public place and not to travel on public transport alone.
