A body found on the Broads is thought to be the man who went missing when a boat capsized, Suffolk Police have said.

A man in his 30s disappeared after a boat with five people on board sank in the River Waveney, downstream from Beccles, at about 21:40 BST on Monday.

Four people managed to get out of the water near Barnby and were treated at the scene, the coastguard said.

Formal identification has yet to take place.

Suffolk Police said it was called to North Cove just before 09:50 on Thursday by a member of the public who had discovered a body.

The force was assisted by HM Coastguard, Suffolk Fire and Rescue and the East of England Ambulance Service.

They confirmed the missing man's family had been informed of the discovery.

He has been named locally as Nathan Strowger.

Emergency services spent much of the week searching the river between Beccles and Oulton Broad.

HM Coastguard had been leading on the operation but the investigation has now been passed to Suffolk Police.
