Shrewsbury disabled adventurer plans 20-day Antarctic feat

A man who was paralysed from the chest down in a climbing accident is planning to cross Antarctica this year.

Darren Edwards, from Shrewsbury, is hoping to cover 333km (206.9 miles) in only 20 days in a sit-ski expedition.

Mr Edwards, 32, is looking to raise £300,000 for a charity that hopes to find a cure for spinal cord injuries.

He has undertaken a number of challenges, including completing seven marathons over seven days on seven continents, since he was paralysed while rock climbing in north Wales in 2016.
