Haydock crash: Family tribute to 'loving dad' who died

A pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car near St Helens has been described by his family as a "loving husband, dad and grandad".

Paul Roberts, aged 63, was hit by a black Toyota in Liverpool Road, Haydock, at about 16:05 GMT on Saturday.

The driver stopped at the scene and has been helping with police inquiries.

In a statement, Mr Roberts' family said: "We love and miss him so very much."

"We are beyond devastated and struggling to comprehend what has happened," the family said.

Police repeated their appeal for any witnesses to contact them.
