Man stabbed in flat 'will be missed forever'

A man who was stabbed to death in a flat "will be loved and missed always and forever", his family have said.

Liam Collier, 34, was attacked in the property on Sherlock Avenue, Haydock, at about 22:25 BST on Friday, Merseyside Police said.

Kayleigh Smart, 39, has been charged with his murder and is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A 40-year-old man from Liverpool who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail.

In a tribute, Mr Collier's family said: "Liam you were taken far too soon.

"You will be loved and missed always and forever from all the family."

Det Ch Insp Steve Ball said Mr Collier's "tragic death" was believed to be "an isolated incident".

He said the force's "thoughts and sincere condolences" were with his family, who were being supported by specialist officers.
