New Battle of Bosworth trail to tell lesser-known tales
A new trail that aims to tell lesser-known stories from the Battle of Bosworth and the death of King Richard III is due to be launched in 2025.
The Bosworth1485 Trail will visit often overlooked places that played a huge part in the famous battle.
Each location will be marked with interpretation panels to explain their role and significance.
The trail will be delivered by Leicestershire Promotions and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.
Richard III, England's last Plantagenet king, lost his crown and his life when his army was defeated by the forces of Henry Tudor in the battle in 1485.
Alongside the informative panels, four unique artworks will be installed at key locations near Sutton Cheney in Leicestershire.
A crowdfunding appeal has been started to raise £20,000 towards the project, which could be launched in spring 2025.
Martin Peters, chief executive of Leicestershire Promotions, said: "The local landscape helped to shape and witness the events of 1485 and by embedding a series of unique artworks, we can offer a physical interpretation of the history of the battle and demise of King Richard III.
"We hope that people will be able to support this exciting project through the crowdfunding appeal and help to spread the word to a new generation of visitors, keen to hear one of the greatest stories in British history."
