Leicestershire man completes 380-mile 'Arctic' trek in UK

A man who was due to enter a 611km (380-mile) ultra challenge in the Arctic has completed the trek in the UK instead.

Stu Humber, 47, a personal trainer from Lutterworth in Leicestershire, was hoping to compete in the 6633 Arctic Ultra race, which was cancelled due to Covid-19.

Instead, he spent a week walking day and night around the town to raise money for the NHS.

For part of the challenge, he dragged a 27kg (60lb) sledge, but after it broke he carried his equipment and supplies in rucksack instead.

Mr Humber said he stopped to sleep for only about two or three hours each night, and completed the trek in six days and 15 hours.

He said: "This is me trying to help and support all the work [the NHS] have been doing recently."
