A windsurfer has been rescued after his mast broke near Fraisthorpe.

Bridlington RNLI said the coastguard received a request to launch at 13:45 GMT on Tuesday after the man made an emergency call.

A crew of three volunteers set off within 10 minutes in an inshore lifeboat to assist the windsurfer.

They found the man within a matter of minutes and confirmed he was not injured but unable to make his way back to shore.

He was taken back to the shoreline at Fraisthorpe where he recovered his windsurf.

The inshore lifeboat, named Ernie Wellings, was then recovered, washed down, refuelled and was back on service by 14:40 GMT, the RNLI said.
