Ramon Cleal was sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court on Monday

A man who exposed himself in front of children has been jailed for 30 months.

Police found Ramon Cleal, 65, of Barnes Wallis Way in Churchdown, Gloucestershire, kept a wooden block by his window to stand on to expose himself.

Officers found more than 600 indecent images on his home devices.

The sentencing judge at Gloucester Crown Court told Cleal: "You have sexual obsessions which are out of control."

Cleal pleaded guilty to multiple charges at the court on Monday, including engaging in sexual activity with a child, exposing himself, and three offences of making indecent images of children.

The images included 86 Class A images - the most serious category - in addition to 78 Class B and 454 Class C images.

'Caused nightmares'

Police officers who went to Cleal's home after a parent contacted them to complain about his behaviour found a telescope pointing at a nearby playing field.

Prosecutor Michael Hall said the mother of a seven-year-old girl also once saw Cleal naked at his window.

In a victim personal statement, the girl's mother said the girl "has had nightmares and weird dreams that she cannot explain".

"She has woken up screaming Cleal's name," her mother said.

"This has had a psychological impact on her and she has been referred to the children's mental health team for help.

"She cries when his name is mentioned."

'You will not stop'

Judge Rupert Lowe jailed Cleal for 30 months, and imposed an extended parole period of a further 30 months after the sentence ends.

The court heard Cleal has 17 previous convictions, dating back to 1979 and the most recent in 2000, including seven previous offences of exposure and child sex offences.

The judge told him: "You have a long-standing sexual perversion, which includes an overwhelming desire, it seems, to expose your genitals to members of the public - and also an overwhelming sexual interest in children.

"I have absolutely no confidence that when you are released from this sentence you will stop doing it."
