Essex Police dispersal order to tackle car meet near Chelmsford
Police have been handed extra powers after reports an unauthorised car meet would take place ahead of the Easter weekend.
Essex Police said it received information that nuisance motorists could target an area between Chelmsford and Braintree.
Dispersal orders would be in place for 48 hours from 18:00 GMT on Wednesday, police said.
Acting Insp Graham Thomas added: "We will not tolerate dangerous driving."
The order gives officers the power to direct anyone involved in, or suspected of being involved in, anti-social or criminal activities to leave the area or face arrest.
Police said concerns had been raised that related to a "planned, large car meet".
"Our officers will be out in the community over the next couple of days and over the bank holiday weekend to make sure drivers are behaving safely and responsibly," Mr Thomas added.
