Wonky-beaked chicken inspires woman to set up rescue group
A chicken with a wonky beak has inspired a woman to set up an organisation that rehomes birds from commercial farms.
Four-year-old Wonka from Wool in Dorset was born with cross beak - a condition where the upper and lower beaks are misaligned, meaning she needs hand-feeding twice a day.
She is cared for by Jade Cooper who now has five rescue chickens, including one with no feet, one that is brain damaged and two who are blind.
Wonka inspired Ms Cooper to set up Chicken Rescue UK, a non-profit group that helps rescue and rehome chickens from commercial UK egg production.
