Firefighters have spent the night tackling a blaze which ripped through a thatched cottage on Friday.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) was called to the house in Holt, near Wimborne just before about 18:00 GMT.

At its peak up to 60 firefighters fought the flames, DWFRS said.

Nobody was hurt and the service said fire crews were able to save the majority of the householder's possessions.

The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
