Landbeach: Son stabbed mum in head with fork in row over loud music
A man who stabbed his mother in the head with a fork after she took away his speaker to stop him playing loud music, has been jailed for two years.
Thomas Walsh, 39, of Darwin Drive in Cambridge, attacked his mother with the cutlery at her home in Landbeach, Cambridgeshire, in October 2023.
He pinned her to the floor and demanded her phone before he fled in a car he did not have permission to drive.
He was arrested, and sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on 8 February.
Cambridgeshire Police said Walsh left the scene of the attack after his mother managed to get away from him and call the police from a neighbour's house.
Walsh was later pulled over and arrested by officers following reports he was driving recklessly with a damaged door, a shredded tyre - and had a dog in the passenger seat.
PC Alec Cunningham, said: "Walsh's erratic behaviour towards his own mother left her fearing for her life, while his driving could have caused serious injury to himself and other road users.
"He has shown himself to be violent, aggressive and unpredictable and I hope he gets the help he needs while in prison to change his behaviour."
Walsh was jailed for two years for assault with actual bodily harm.
He was also given concurrent sentences for other offences including shoplifting, threatening behaviour, taking a vehicle without consent and dangerous driving.
