One of Bristol's biggest cinemas will close later this month after 15 years.

The Showcase Cinema de Lux in Cabot Circus shopping centre will show its last film on 30 November after failing to agree terms on a new lease.

The BBC was told staff were placed under notice of potential redundancy in October.

Showcase, which operates the 13-screen Bristol cinema, is rejecting bookings after November 30 and all future dates are unavailable.

The city centre cinema's opening coincided with the unveiling of Cabot Circus in 2008.

Showcase has 16 other cinemas in the UK, including one in Avonmeads Retail Park in St Philips which has 14 screens.

Crispin Lilly, Managing Director, Showcase Cinemas UK, said: "We would like to thank all the customers who have visited since we opened at Cabot Circus in 2008 and we hope they have enjoyed their time with us.

"We would also like to thank our committed team of employees at the site for their passion, dedication and hard work, especially over the last few difficult years.

"We are committed to delivering great cinema experiences to Bristol audiences and hope that customers will visit our other cinema in the city, less than three miles away at Avonmeads.

The announcement comes days after the closure of the Cineworld at Hengrove Park, in South Bristol.
