Car meet in Sandhurst: Vehicle seized by police
A vehicle was seized after police intervened in a car meet outside a shopping centre.
Thames Valley Police said its neighbourhood team from Bracknell carried out targeted patrols over the weekend at The Meadows, near Sandhurst, Berkshire.
It said it had "been working with the car park management team for a long time" regarding car meets there.
A vehicle with no insurance was seized after failing to stop in the car park.
Tickets were issued to motorbike riders for riding through a pedestrianised area and a fine was given to a driver for an "excessively loud exhaust, who decided to rev and backfire it whilst driving through the car park".
The neighbourhood team said new barriers would be operating at store opening and closing times.
In a light-hearted post on its Facebook page, replying to "anticipated" questions, TVP Bracknell and Wokingham said it was not its job to find an alternative location for street racers to meet safely.
"We are the police, not an events company, otherwise I'd be planning weddings and birthdays as well," its spokesperson said.
