East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is investigating the scrap yard blaze in North Quay, Newhaven.

Staplecross residents are being urged by firefighters to keep their windows and doors shut.

An emergency hub has been set up after a fire in Eastbourne that killed a man in his 70s.

Sussex Police say the next of kin of the man, believed to be in his 70s, have been informed.

The fire is now out but police remain at the scene, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service says.

The Royal Albion Hotel and its scaffolding are “at risk of catastrophic failure", the council says.

HM Coastguard took the man to hospital by helicopter on Friday evening.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the vehicle was "well alight" when they attended the scene.
