Radio 1's Big Weekend coming to Luton
Radio 1's Big Weekend will be held in Luton this year.
Greg James revealed the location of the three-day festival - Stockwood Park - on his Radio 1 Breakfast Show.
Headliners for the 2024 event, which starts on Friday 24 May, are yet to be announced. Last year Lewis Capaldi, Jonas Brothers, and The 1975 topped the bill in Dundee.
It will be the first time the festival has run across three full days, and 100,000 tickets will be available.
"This year it's bigger than ever," Greg told listeners while broadcasting from Luton earlier. "We're doing a really big Big Weekend.
"For the first time all four stages are on for all three days."
He added that the annual festival is "our favourite time of year and we love taking it somewhere new.
"It's a simple mission really: we just want everyone who comes along to have the best time."
The line-up and information for how to get tickets is due to be announced over the coming weeks.
Stockwood Park is in the south of the town, about a 10-minute drive from Luton FC's ground at Kenilworth Road.
The ground became football's most memed away end when the club returned to the Premier League in 2023.
Luton is also the hometown of actress Emily Atack, presenter Stacy Dooley and cricketer Monty Panesar.
The festival returned in 2022 in Coventry after Covid meant it was cancelled in 2020 and 2021.
Last year, weekend tickets cost £29.00 plus a £4.50 booking fee while Friday tickets cost £18 with an additional booking fee of £2.50.
