A woman was sexually assaulted as she waited for a taxi in Gloucester city centre, police have said.

The incident happened in Southgate Street at around 02:15 GMT on Sunday 19 January.

Gloucestershire Police said the victim, in her 30s, was approached by a man as she waited close to Tesco Express.

The man got annoyed after she told him she was not interested in talking to him and he tried to touch her.

Police said the man then leant up against her, and touched her without her consent.

She was able to get away and rang a friend for support, before the man walked off.

The woman, who was left shaken by the ordeal, described the man as "being older".

CCTV in the city centre is being checked by officers and police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened.
