Migrant numbers from outside Europe increase
BBCThe number of people from a country outside continental Europe living in Jersey has increased by 150% since 2018, a report has shown.
The population and migration report for December 2023 said people with a "rest of world" nationality, excluding Jersey, British and European, had risen from 1,720 to 4,300 people.
The largest increase was seen among the Kenyan and Filipino populations, while the number of European nationals decreased by 7% in the same timeframe.
The report said without migration, the working age population would have fallen every year since 2012 at an average of 230 people per year due to ageing and deaths.
There were an estimated 103,650 people living in Jersey at the end of 2023, which was an increase of 350 compared to 2022.
The number of people aged over 64 grew by 12% between 2018 and 2023 and the number of under 16-year-olds fell by 5%.
The report also found there were more deaths than births in 2023.
