New seats and blue badge bays installed in city

New benches and disabled parking spaces have been installed in Bradford as work to pedestrianise the city centre nears completion.

Bradford Council has been working to pedestrianise areas around the city's historic buildings to create space for events and pavement cafes.

The work is due to be completed by the end of the year and has also seen raised flowerbeds put in around the new plazas and walkways.

Benches have been created on the side of raised planters on Broadway and Hall Ings and a row of stone seats have been installed on Market Street.

A new turning circle for cars has been completed on Hall Ings outside the former Telegraph & Argus office and where the Hall Ings pedestrian area begins.

A number of disabled parking bays have also been created on Broadway, outside Frankie's restaurant.

The work was first announced by the government in March 2020 as part of the Transforming Cities Fund initiative, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Much of the work is now days away from completion, a Bradford Council spokesperson said, although work on the new parking spaces at Norfolk Gardens and the old NCP car park site is expected to continue into the New Year.
