A family has paid tribute to man killed after his car hit a barrier on an East Yorkshire road.

John Cartmell, 59, died at the scene of the crash on the southbound carriageway of the A1034, close to the slip road with the A63 near South Cave, on Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement issued through Humberside Police, his family said: "John was a loving son, father, brother, partner, uncle, friend, and devoted grandad who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

"He was so loved, and he enjoyed nothing more than being with his family or playing a round of golf."

They added: "There are no words to express how greatly he will be missed."

Officers renewed an appeal for witnesses or dashcam footage of the incident.
