Critical incident ongoing due to patient numbers
Critical incident measures remain in place for a second day at a city hospital due to "high patient numbers".
North Bristol NHS Trust has told people for a second day not to attend Southmead Hospital's emergency department unless they require "critical, life-saving care" .
All of the hospital's areas have been affected.
A trust spokesperson warned people may have to wait more than eight hours for emergency services and advised people to use alternative services if possible.
"Please do not attend our emergency department unless you require critical, lifesaving care," they said.
"If your loved one is in hospital and ready to go home, please help them by supporting their discharge home as soon as possible.
"We are incredibly grateful to our staff for their continued efforts in caring for patients during this particularly busy time."
The trust has urged people to contact their local pharmacy or NHS 111 for non-life threatening injuries.
