A man has been arrested after a pedestrian suffered "life-changing" injuries in a crash in South Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to The Crescent, Doncaster, at about 07:15 BST on 18 April to reports a woman had been struck by a white Ford Transit van.

The woman, 62, remains in hospital after the collision, South Yorkshire Police said.

A 35-year-old man was held on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene and bailed pending further police inquiries.

The force asked those with information or dashcam footage of the crash to come forward.
