Thanet council's £600k plan to fix public toilets
Thanet District Council is considering spending £600,000 refurbishing two of the district's public toilets.
The work would be carried out on the facilities at the Clock Tower in Margate and Stone Bay in Broadstairs.
It would be part of a £1.25m programme of improvements to public toilets across the district. Nine conveniences have already been refurbished.
Councillors will consider plans to award contracts for the work at meetings on 17 and 26 September.
At Marine Drive in Margate £358,000 would be spent refurbishing the existing subterranean facilities and building new toilets at street level to improve disabled access.
Stone Bay's existing block would be refurbished and a new accessible block would be built at street level, at a cost of £283,000.
Both schemes would need planning permission, with work expected to start in 2025 if given the go ahead.
