The council said the hub had transformed the lives of nearly 900 residents in 2024

Spelthorne Borough Council (SBC) said it had received government funding to continue providing careers advice and employment support to young people.

The Department for Work and Pensions said it would provide a grant of £63,000 from January 2025 to enable the council to continue providing support for young people at the Spelthorne Jobs and Skills Hub in Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey.

The hub was established by SBC in 2022 to help young people improve their skills and qualifications, gain work experience and apprenticeships, and successfully apply for jobs.

Councillor Howard Williams said: "Securing this funding for a fourth year is really good news for the council and will enable us to continue the excellent work being undertaken at the Spelthorne Jobs and Skills Hub."

SBC said the hub had transformed the lives of nearly 900 residents in 2024.
