The airport that dismantles and recycles planes

This runway doubles as an aeroplane salvage yard, where retired airliners go to be dismantled for parts and recycled.

The Cotswold Airport near Kemble in Gloucestershire is home to Air Salvage International, who disassemble between 40-50 aircraft on the site every year.

Some will be restored to their former glory and returned to flight, while others are sold for scrap and used for recovery training purposes.

A deconstructed section of fuselage was even sold to a primary school in Bristol, where it was turned into a library and outdoor classroom.
