Smash-and-grab raiders have stolen almost the entire contents of a jewellery shop, according to police.

Officers were called to a burglary in progress at Oliver and J Jewellers on Blyburgate in Beccles, Suffolk, at 01:30 GMT.

Two males were reported to have forced entry to the store, which activated the burglar alarm, and stole "a large quantity" of jewellery, police said.

The suspects are then thought to have left the scene in a vehicle.

Suffolk Police has started an investigation and appealed for witnesses to contact them.

The shop has been boarded up.

Six years ago, masked men threatened the shop's owner at knifepoint but failed to steal anything.
