A "complex recovery" operation is under way after a lorry overturned on a roundabout in Nottinghamshire.

The A46 was closed northbound between the A617 near Newark and the A1 at Winthorpe at about 22:00 BST on Tuesday, according to Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS).

National Highways said the northbound closure was lifted at about 09:15 BST on Wednesday, but a southbound closure was put in place.

The closure is likely to remain "until at least mid afternoon", a spokesperson said.

NFRS said crews made the area safe and helped contain an oil spill.

Drivers are urged to allow extra time for their journeys as a "complex recovery and clear-up operation is ongoing".
