Emergency services were called to Lombard Street on Monday evening

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of another man police found injured and "in distress" at the side of the road.

Nottinghamshire Police said the man had been driving when he "reportedly suffered a medical emergency so pulled over" in Lombard Street, Newark, just before 17:00 BST on Monday.

He was treated at the roadside but pronounced dead at the scene, the force added.

A 19-year-old man has been held on suspicion of murder, while a 37-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl have been detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police said the victim's family had been notified of the arrests and continued to be supported by specially trained officers.

Det Ch Insp Ruby Burrow said: "While we're announcing news of these arrests today, I'd stress that this murder investigation is still very much ongoing.

"As such, it is critical that anyone who has any information but hasn't told us about it yet, does so immediately.

"Any piece of information, however small or insignificant it might seem, could be the difference between us solving a case like this."
