More than 7,200 poppies have been knitted or crocheted to make up an eye-catching Remembrance display on a village church.

A cascade of red poppies was installed on the side of St Katherine's Church in Holt, near Trowbridge, Wiltshire, on Friday.

The poppies were created by more than 200 volunteers from the village, with the age range of contributors spanning from pre-school to 96.

The cascade will be on display until 18 November and will be lit up at night, and there are also smaller displays elsewhere in the village.

The local Brownies, Guides, youth group and school were involved and within a month of asking for volunteers, 100 people had come forward.

It is not just the church however, with poppies scattered all over Holt including outside the pub, and on benches, bollards and post boxes.

Brooches and clips have been made in aid of the Royal British Legion (RBL) while a concert in the village on Sunday has sold out.

Proceeds from the concert will go towards the RBL and Help for Heroes.
