Elderly woman admits careless driving death
A 78-year-old driver has admitted causing the death of a pedestrian by careless driving.
Doretta Winsor from Paignton told Devon and Cornwall Police it was a "momentary lapse in concentration" and she was "devastated" by the death of 69-year-old Edward Langworthy, a court heard.
Magistrates in Newton Abbot heard on Friday Mr Langworthy, who was born in Dublin, died in hospital 18 days after he was struck by Winsor's car as he crossed a road in Paignton last November.
Winsor had a clean driving licence which she has now surrendered, and sentencing was adjourned until next month.
