Work begins on student apartment block in Glasgow
Construction of a block of flats containing more than 300 student apartments has begun in Glasgow’s city centre.
It is being built on the site of a recently demolished office block at 292-298 St Vincent Street.
The 321 self-contained studio apartments, costing £33m to build, are scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2026.
The building will also include a gym, cinema room, communal areas and study rooms for the students.
The project is being run by Artisan Real Estate, Homes for Students and Graham contractors.
David Westwater development director of Artisan Real Estate, said the location was about a minute's walk from the famous King Tut's Wah Wah hut and within easy walking or cycling distance to most colleges and universities.
He said: "We will actively work with our neighbours to make the development an active and integral part of the local area, providing opportunities for our neighbours to share communal meeting spaces."
Contractors Graham are also currently working on building 521 apartments at a site on Bath Street which should be completed by summer 2025.
