The family of a teenage girl who died following a car crash have described her as being "full of life, always happy and smiling".

Zuzanna Gniada, 16, had been a passenger in a white Volkswagen Polo that left the road and hit a tree near the village of Elkstone, Gloucestershire, at about 02:20 GMT on 17 February.

Known as Zuzia, the teenager who lived near Stroud was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol but died from her injuries just over a week later on 25 February.

"Zuzia has been taken from us far too soon and we will miss her deeply, she will forever be in our hearts," her family said.

They added: "She had so many friends and was well liked by many. She was kind and always wanted to help others.

"Zuzia had a passion and love for makeup and fashion and took pride in how she looked. Zuzia leaves behind her mother, father and three older siblings."

A boy from Stroud, aged 17, was arrested following the incident and released under investigation.

A 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, who were also in the vehicle, have been discharged from hospital after being treated for serious injuries.

Investigating officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle being driven prior to it.
