Teenager in life-threatening condition after crash

A teenage girl is in a life-threatening condition after a car left the road and crashed into a tree.
The crash involving a white Volkswagen Polo happened on an unclassified road near Elkstone in Gloucestershire at about 02:20 GMT on Monday.
The 16-year-old girl sustained serious injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital. A 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were also treated for injuries.
A boy from Stroud, aged 17, was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol, he was released under investigation while enquiries continue.

He was also arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Police officers provided first aid to the 16-year-old girl at the scene before the ambulance service arrived. The fire service also attended the scene.
The 17-year-old boy sustained leg injuries, while the 14-year-old girl sustained hand and leg injuries.
A road closure was in place while police carried out a collision investigation.
Gloucestershire Police has asked witnesses, including anyone with dashcam footage of the vehicle or who saw it being driven before the collision, to get in touch.
