A man has been punched in the face and injured on the Glider service in west Belfast.

He was assaulted on board the bus service, on the Stewartstown Road, at about 17:30 BST on Monday.

Police initially said the victim was a member of staff but have since clarified he was a passenger.

It was reported that the man was punched after he had spoken to a number of teenagers and two older men, one using a crutch and one with an arm in a sling, about their anti-social behaviour. He required hospital treatment for his injuries.

Insp Adams, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), said it was an "absolutely abhorrent," attack.

Enquiries are continuing and police have appealed for anyone with any information to contact them.
