Arrest made after man stabbed in arm

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Londonderry following a reported stabbing on Sunday morning.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) attended the incident alongside the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) in the Faustina Terrace area just after 09:30 BST.

A man in his 40s, with a serious wound to his arm, has been taken to hospital for treatment.

The police said the suspect was found shortly after the incident in a nearby residential address and arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The police added that while the man was detained he became aggressive to officers and was further arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault on police and on suspicion of aggravated burglary and theft.
