Motorcyclist killed in crash with car

A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash with a car.

The 60-year-old's bike and a Volvo collided at Workington, in west Cumbria, on Thursday at the junction of Branthwaite Road and the A596.

It happened at about 16:15 GMT and Cumbria Police said the man died at the scene, close to Workington Golf Club, despite the efforts of emergency services.

The car's driver was taken to hospital and later discharged.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to contact the force.
