New trains to arrive for timetable change
A train operator is introducing extra four-carriage units as it prepares to add more services to its timetable from 15 December.
Southeastern said it will receive two additional Class 377 trains following a joint agreement with Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR).
A spokesperson says the trains will help provide a more reliable service and a better experience for customers with air conditioning, at-seat plug sockets and improved onboard information.
A further 11 Class 377 trains will enter passenger service on Southeastern before December 2025.
They will mainly be used to replace older-style trains on the Maidstone East and Tunbridge Wells lines.
Southeastern is currently drawing up plans to replace older stock across its whole network, some of which are 30 years old.
Some newer trains have already began operating across the network.
The new timetable includes the introduction of an extra 220 weekly services, including two evening services from Charing Cross to Maidstone East being extended to Ashford International on weekdays.
Sophie Barker, head of major programmes at Southeastern, said: "The arrival of these trains is a key milestone in our ongoing work to provide a more reliable service by modernising our fleet.
"The 13 trains will join the 23 existing Class 377s already operated by Southeastern."
