Two arrested as police uncover £400k cocaine stash
Two people have been arrested after cocaine with a street value of about £400,000 was uncovered in a town in Staffordshire.
Officers stopped a black Mercedes on the Aldi car park off Ventura Park Road, Tamworth, at about 13.20 GMT on Tuesday, Staffordshire Police said.
After finding a snap bag of cocaine along with a burner phone, an address in Bolehall was then searched - where a 4kg (8.8 lb) of the class A drug was discovered along with a small amount of cannabis.
A 29-year-old man and a woman, 34, are being held on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine, and suspicion of cannabis possession.
The man is also suspected of driving without a licence and driving without insurance, while the woman was also arrested on suspicion of permitting the use of a vehicle with no insurance.
We're continuing to target high-harm offences in our communities and have arrested more than 1,000 people suspected of drug and weapon offences since launching a crackdown in May last year," a police spokesman said.
"Organised crime is a blight on local communities and is being targeted every single day by proactive officers."
