Police probe assault on taxi driver in his 80s
Police are investigating an assault on a taxi driver in his 80s in Birmingham.
It is believed the man was "repeatedly punched" on Kings Heath High Street on 23 November by a male passenger who had been travelling in his car, police said.
The elderly taxi driver sustained "nasty facial injuries" during the incident, which happened at about 16:15 GMT, officers added.
"This was a totally unacceptable attack and we're carrying out active enquiries to identify who was involved," a West Midlands Police spokesperson said.
The force is reviewing CCTV as part of its inquiries and asked anyone with information to contact them.
Meanwhile, an online fundraiser set up by other local taxi drivers for the victim has raised more than £740.
Organiser Carl Wilson wrote on his fundraising page he wanted to give the victim "some time off with his family to recover, without worrying about loss of earnings, after being violently attacked just trying to earn a living".
