A teenage football fan who built part of Peterborough United's stadium out of Lego has been asked to exhibit his work at the club.

Posh supporter Tom, 13, worked at his home for three weeks before unveiling his passion project this week.

It showed the Meerkat Family Stand at the Weston Homes Stadium as never seen before - made out of small plastic bricks.

"It feels great and I'm just so proud of myself and happy that everybody else can see it," Tom said.

His work attracted praise on social media from the club he had supported since the age of six.

Peterborough United said the model would be on display in the club shop for the foreseeable future.

"It took three weeks... It's quite a long time, for me anyway," Tom told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"[Lego] is just satisfying to build and you can create all kinds of stuff. I'm happy to build anything."

The impressive final product had mini Posh players holding the English Football League trophy aloft, in scenes that mirrored their success in April.

It even came complete with club mascots Peter Burrow and Mr Posh.

Tom's dad, Dan, praised the side for working hard to create a family environment for youngsters.

"It's been fantastic and Tom's love for the club has grown and grown," he added.

"Now he’s been able to get his passion of Lego and football together for this project."
