Man building Lego Titanic appeals for spare bricks
BBCA model maker is putting out a call for Lego bricks to enable him complete his three-year project to build a 12ft (3.7m) model of the Titanic.
Jack Moore, who is autistic, is creating the ship from memory in his conservatory and says he is in particular need of white and yellow bricks.
The 30-year-old from Birchington, Kent, got interested in the Titanic while at the Harbour School in Dover and his collection now includes books, DVDs and other memorabilia.
The interior is made of various shapes and colours, but he says he still needs to complete the funnels and the stern before possibly putting it on display.
He said: “There is a gap here where I think that’s the bit where they look up into the sky and look around the stars, then check which direction they have to go. At the front is where they had to look out for icebergs.
“I've only managed to make two lifeboats so far - so we need white bricks for those.”
He is also considering using mini figures to make a tiny Leonardo De Caprio and Kate Winslet, who stared in the Titanic film, to go on the bow.
His neighbour Maggie Jack has donated sacks of used bricks which belonged to her two sons.
She said: “They will be delighted that they are coming to somebody who is going to make good use of them.”
