Tennis courts to get £57k makeover funded by LTA

Two dilapidated tennis courts in Kent are to be overhauled with funding from the Lawn Tennis Association Foundation.

The courts, at Connaught Park, in Dover, will be resurfaced and given new nets, posts and perimeter fencing as part of the £57,000 investment.

There will also be an access-controlled gate with an online booking system, which can be accessed through the LTA's website.

Julie Porter, chief operating officer at the LTA, said: "We will also be working closely with Dover District Council to ensure that the local community have a range of accessible opportunities to get on court, and open up our sport to many more people.”

A similar project was carried out to upgrade four courts at Marke Wood, in Walmer, Deal, in 2023.

Ms Porter said: “This investment is part of the LTA’s Parks Tennis Project, and will mean that courts will be available for people to use for years to come."

The Connaught Park courts will shut from 19 August while the work is carried out, with a target of reopening by mid-October.
