Work set to begin on footpath and cycleway
Work on a new footpath and cycleway in East Yorkshire is due to start soon.
It will connect Bishop Burton and the Kilingwoldgraves roundabout on the A1079 Hull to York road.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council said work on the one mile (about 1.5km) scheme was due to start on 17 February and be completed by early August.
According to the authority, the current path between the village and the roundabout is too narrow and in poor condition, meaning cyclists are unable to use it.
The new path will link the village with the new service station next to the roundabout.
A toucan crossing will be installed near the roundabout.
The £1m scheme will be part-funded by Active Travel England and the government's Shared Prosperity Fund.
Paul West, the council's cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "It will provide a much safer and popular route when it's complete."
The existing path will be closed while work takes place. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 09:30 and 15:30 GMT on weekdays, and between 09:30 and 15:00 GMT on Saturdays.
