Man arrested for attempted rape of teen in park

A man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a teenage girl in a park.

Cumbria Police said the alleged attack happened at Gooseholme Park, in Kendal, at about 00:30 BST on Sunday.

The 26-year-old, from the town, was arrested shortly after and has been released on bail while the investigation continues.

The 17-year-old victim was being supported by specialist officers, police said.
